Project Sky

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Project Sky offer affordable rates?

  • Project Sky exclusively provides hour building packages, enabling us to offer discounted rates to our valued clients. Our packages are 20 hours or 40 hours.

Is Project Sky a flight school?

  • No, Project Sky is not a flight school. We cater exclusively to licensed pilots focused on hour building and do not offer flight training. This dedicated approach means our aircraft are reserved solely for pilots building hours, allowing for greater availability, faster scheduling and a more efficient path to building flight time.

How do I start hour building with Project Sky?

  • To fly with Project Sky, every pilot must have a valid PPL or higher, a valid medical, meet aircraft currency requirements and have the appropriate excess insurance for the diesel C172s.

What are the requirements before I can fly solo on Project Sky’s aircraft?

  • Because our aircraft are diesel-engine, you will need to do an endorsement flight. If you possess a C172 rating, we offer support in obtaining the diesel endorsement through an ATO with one of our certified grade 2 instructors. Once the endorsement is complete, all pilots need to complete 5 hours of safety flying with a Project Sky Safety Pilot. You will log those hours as PIC.
What sets Project Sky apart from other hour building / hire and fly companies?
  • We provide state-of-the-art diesel-powered Cessna 172s equipped with full FADEC, IF, and GPS capabilities, boasting an impressive endurance of up to 8 hours. This enables our clients to engage in hassle-free, cross-country flying within a comfortable and enjoyable environment, provided that proper flight planning is conducted in advance.

How many hours PIC do I need for my CPL?

  • 100 hour PIC before you can test for your CPL.
